Introducing the 1996 Dehler 41DS Deck Saloon. The Dehler 41 Deck Saloon is a full-fledged cruising yacht featuring the excellent basic performance and high livability characteristic of the prestigious German brand Dehler. The main salon, bathed in natural light streaming through the large windows unique to the Deck Saloon design, is exceptionally bright and open, and the boat remains in such excellent condition that it’s hard to believe it’s over 30 years old. The cushions in the main salon are also in good condition, promising a comfortable life on board. Additionally, the head—which features a spacious shower area—is roomy, giving the impression of a yacht well-suited for long-term cruising. On the other hand, the exterior and fittings require some refurbishment. The non-slip decking is peeling, and the running rigging and control lines likely need to be replaced. The instruments, including the anemometer, are inoperable, and we were unable to verify the condition of the sails. At the time of our inspection, the battery was low, so we were unable to verify the operation of some electrical components, such as the electric toilet. The hull has not been maintained, and at the time of our inspection, the rudder felt heavy; however, it is expected that cleaning around the rudder and the hull will improve this. The engine has been properly maintained and started smoothly during the inspection. Furthermore, with halyards and the mainsheet routed all the way to the cockpit, along with Harken electric winches, it is clear that this boat possesses great potential as a full-fledged cruising yacht. As it stands, the boat requires inspection, maintenance, and refurbishment of various components, but it offers ample appeal as a base boat. We recommend this vessel to sailors who wish to restore this rare deck saloon model to their own specifications and enjoy it for many years to come.
